Jersey Tiger moth

A day-flying moth widely distributed in Europe and beyond. Rarely seen in the British Isles in Victorian times, it then began to spread into Devon and Cornwall where it became well-established. Today it is also sometimes found in London and across the south of England.

Peacock butterfly

One of our most easily recognised butterflies, with large eye-spots on its wings to confuse or distract predators. Its caterpillars feed on the common stinging nettle.
